A Message From the President
Greetings Friends & Neighbors,

Well here we are yet again with July dressed up and waiting for June. Ah yes, that summer breeze makes me feel fine. What a fabulous time of year where the beautiful Long Island outdoors become your canvas to literally paint summer memories that will last a lifetime.

This year our annual Memorial Day Parade was a huge success. It was very uplifting to see so many people lined up on Main Street as the parade commenced from the Holbrook Plaza. The Chamber went through two hundred American Flags that we gave out at only the halfway point of the parade route. As always, the ceremony held at the Alex DiGuardia Memorial was both touching and reflective. Special thanks to Monsignor Thomas Spadaro from the Church of the Good Shepherd for leading us in the opening prayer. We also had the distinct honor of being joined by both our County Executive Steve Levy and the Presiding Officer of the County Legislature Bill Lindsay. The Chamber would also like to thank the Holbrook Fire Department for installing all of the American Flags upon the utility poles along Main Street.

I cannot say enough about what a beautiful job Phil Lorito and his wife Louisa do in maintaining the DiGuardia Memorial. Phil is a member of VFW Post 9486 of Ronkonkoma which also represents Holbrook area veterans. 9486 is the sponsor and official caretaker of the DiGuardia Memorial which is also a dedicated Suffolk County Park thanks to the efforts of Legislator Lindsay a few years ago. Louisa truly has a green thumb as the plants and flowers never looked better down there. It is truly a blessing to have such wonderful caring people living within the Holbrook community.

On Friday evening July 16th @ 7 PM, the Chamber along with Legislator Bill Lindsay will be hosting a FREE concert under the stars on the ball field of the Holbrook Country Club. The featured group is the one and only Beatles Tribute Band Strawberry Fields. This is an amazing band that people have paid up to $45 per ticket to see perform at a sold-out Westbury Music Fair. The band actually contains former members of the Broadway hit musical “Beatlemainia”. On this evening you will be taken away on a magical mystery tour complete with Beatles costumes that replicate those innocent early years to the wild psychedelic late sixties to the music that transcended an entire culture.

Everyone has a favorite Beatle song or three, come on out and join us and perhaps you will hear yours. The Chamber is offering FREE Exclusive VIP seating for all Holbrook Chamber Savings Card Members; inquire with the Chamber office at 471-2725 for details. There will be plenty of parking, food and beverage concessions will be available as well. So bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a night to remember right here in Holbrook.

Many of our caring and appreciative residents have taken time out to thank the Chamber for our relentless efforts in beautifying and maintaining various areas within the business community. We have recently received kind letters, e-mails and acknowledgements from people passing by as work is being done. Several have asked how can they help and it has finally hit the Chamber Board and its Officers exactly how. The best way would be to purchase a Holbrook Chamber Community Savings Card. These can be purchased via our Holbrookchamber.com site or by contacting our Assistant Jeanne at 471-2725. You can conveniently pay by credit/debit, cash or check. The cost of the card is $20. and may be renewed annually. It serves not only as a vehicle for the Chamber to fund many of our landscaping projects & maintenance program but also mutually benefits the residents by saving them money at over one hundred participating Chamber members right here in our town. A win-win? You bet.

With nearly 10,000 residences within Holbrook, that could potentially raise nearly $200,000 a year which would be poured directly back into the streetscapes and infrastructure of not only the Main St. Business district but also along the southern corridor of Broadway Ave by Sun-Vet and Sun Lakes shopping centers to all along Patchogue/Holbrook Road that literally is the artery of Holbrook. Perhaps a band shell somewhere in town for summer concerts and cultural events will no longer be just a dream. This is where our residents and their families can not only help the Chamber and their members but best of all…help themselves by saving money and obtaining value.

Join the Chamber today in our enormous effort to make Holbrook one of the premier communities to live, work and shop in. Look forward to seeing you all at the concert on July 16th and of course at our amazing annual Fair from August 12-15.

All the Best Always,
Rick Ammirati
